Day 1 Gatineau, QC

Today we take in the spectacular fall colour as we travel through the Kawartha Lakes on our way to Ottawa and the Outaouais Region. We settle in for a four night stay.

Day 2 Gatineau, QC

This morning a scenic drive through the Outaouais region takes us to Montebello and Chocomotive, a craft chocolate factory in the former Montebello Railway station. Next enjoy a fabulous buffet lunch at the Fairmont Le Château Montebello. After lunch we take a guided tour of this luxury resort that played host to the G-7 International Economic Summit and most recently, to the North American Leaders Summit. We return to Gatineau for the night. (B,L)

Day 3 Gatineau, QC

This morning is at your leisure. This afternoon we visit the Museum of History. Here you embark on a historical journey through Canada’s rich past. Visit The Grand Hall, housing the largest collection of indoor totem poles in the world and relive the emotional journey of Terry Fox in the special exhibition “Terry Fox, Running to the Heart of Canada.” Later we board the Empress of Ottawa for a delightful narrated sightseeing cruise on the Ottawa River. Dinner is included after the cruise. (B,D)

Day 4 Gatineau, QC

Today we explore Gatineau Park, a 363 square kilometer area between the Gatineau and Ottawa Rivers. We’ll make a number of stops including Champlain Lookout. There will be some free time in the picturesque town of Wakefield before continuing our journey to the Mackenzie King Estate. For nearly fifty years, the Estate served as the summer residence of Mackenzie King, Canada’s tenth and longest serving Prime Minister. Enjoy a light lunch prior to your self-guided tour of the estate, flower gardens and his picturesque collection of stone ruins. (B,L)
