Tour Itinerary

Day 1 Southwestern Ontario to Ottawa, ON

Join us this morning for a pleasant drive through eastern Ontario, to Canada’s Capital city, Ottawa. Welcome Dinner. (D)

Day 2 Quebec City, QC

Today we cross the Ottawa River and enter the province of Quebec. We visit a Sugar Shack in Trois Rivieres for a look at the Maple Syrup industry and a traditional Lumberjack’s Lunch. In the afternoon, we continue the short distance into Quebec City and enjoy a locally guided tour. (B,L)

Day 3 Fredericton, NB

This morning we cross to the south shore of the St. Lawrence River, on our way to New Brunswick. Tonight, we will be in the city of Fredericton. (B)

Day 4 Moncton, NB

A step back in time this morning, as we visit Kings Landing Historical Settlement, which lets us take a closer look at life during the early days of Canada. Continue to the city of Moncton for overnight. Learn about the unique phenomenon of the Tidal Bore, which is rolling waves of water going backwards up the river. (B)

Day 5 Halifax, NS

A short drive this morning brings us to the shores of the Bay of Fundy, at Hopewell Cape. Here the highest tides anywhere in the world have been recorded. Massive “flower pot rocks” stand as a testament to this amazing wonder of the world during low tide. In the afternoon, we drive to Halifax, taking time to stop at the Springhill Miner’s Museum, travelling back in time to when coal mining was the lifeblood of Springhill. We will be in Halifax 2 nights. (B)

Day 6 Halifax, NS

A great way to start the morning is breakfast at Peggy’s Cove. Then back to the city for a guided city tour, followed by a free afternoon to enjoy the terrific Halifax waterfront. (B)

Day 7 Overnight Ferry Crossing

Today we travel the Nova Scotian countryside before crossing over the Canso Causeway to find ourselves on Cape Breton Island. We visit the Alexander Graham Bell Museum, for an interesting look at the life of this famous inventor. Tonight, we board the ferry for the overnight crossing to Newfoundland. On board, we have arranged twin shared accommodation for your comfort. (B)

Day 8 St. John’s, NL

After disembarking, we make our way to St. John’s, the capital city of Newfoundland. Following breakfast, a relaxing day to enjoy downtown St. John’s. We also visit Cape Spear today, North America’s most easterly point. (B)

Day 9 St. John’s, NL

A guided tour of Newfoundland’s capital city will be the highlight of the morning. This afternoon and evening are completely free for you to stroll downtown St. John’s, shop, enjoy the hotel amenities and visit with new friends. (B)

Day 10 Gander, NL

A Tour through the heart of Terra Nova National Park, takes us to Gander for our two night stay.

Day 11 Twillingate/Gander

A circle tour of the “heart” of Newfoundland as we visit a number of coastal fishing villages. Today a lunch featuring local foods and entertainment. You will visit the Long Point Lighthouse and Prime Berth Fishing Museum, learning of the true culture of the local people. Return to Gander for overnight. (B,L)

Day 12 Corner Brook, NL

Crossing the island province, we arrive in western Newfoundland. We visit Gros Morne National Park for a look at some of Newfoundland’s most rugged landscapes. Tonight, we overnight in Corner Brook. This evening, you will become an “official” Newfoundlander during our included dinner. (B,D)

Day 13 Sydney, NS

We travel to the coastal community of Port aux Basques, and then board the ferry to Nova Scotia. After disembarking the ferry, we make our way to Sydney on Cape Breton Island. (B)

Day 14 Sydney, NS

Today a visit to the Fortress Louisbourg, originally built by the French to protect their claim on the New World. Here you will have plenty of time to enjoy the atmosphere of the Fortress. Again this evening we are in Sydney for overnight stay. (B)

Day 15 Charlottetown, PE

Today you will have a fabulous view of Bras d’or Lake. In the afternoon we board a ferry to Prince Edward Island, the traditional way of travel onto the Island. We will be checking into our hotel for 2 nights. Upon arrival, the balance of the afternoon and evening downtown Charlottetown, to enjoy as you wish. (B)

Day 16 Charlottetown, PE

A free morning to relax or stroll along the streets of Charlottetown. Following lunch on your own, a local guide takes us on a tour around Charlottetown and P.E.I. including visits to the Anne of Green Gables Home, Cavendish Beach and the PEI Preserve Company. This evening we enjoy a Lobster Dinner, an absolute must for every visitor to Atlantic Canada. (B,D)

Day 17 Edmundston, NB

A modern wonder of the world presents itself as we depart Prince Edward Island, the Confederation Bridge. Opened in 1997, this incredible structure spans a distance of 12.9 km and is the world’s first Ice Breaking Bridge. Tonight, we are in Edmundston for overnight. (B)

Day 18 Montreal, QC

Today we return to the province of Quebec and follow the St. Lawrence River to the suburb of Montreal. Here we enjoy a final evening together at our hotel for a farewell dinner. (B,D)

Day 19 Toronto/Home

Today ends our time together. Exchange addresses with new friends, and remember fondly, the fun we had enjoying Atlantic Canada together! (B)
