Tour Itinerary

Day 1 Little Current, ON

An early departure as we travel along the Bruce Peninsula on our way to Tobermory where we board the Chi Cheemaun for our 1:30 departure. A two hour crossing takes us to South Baymouth on Manitoulin Island. A stop at 10 Mile Point offers a breathtaking view of the Bay as well as an opportunity to shop for some local crafts. We overnight in Little Current. After our included dinner, the evening is at your leisure to relax in the hotel or stroll along the Harbourfront on the boardwalk. (D)

Day 2 Sault Ste. Marie, ON

We begin our day with a delicious breakfast followed by a guided tour of Manitoulin, the largest freshwater island in the world. You will see sights such as Bridal Veil Falls in Kagawong, a view from the bluffs above Gore Bay, and Immaculate Conception Church. Designed to represent a teepee, a fire pit and the circle of life it combines aboriginal traditions and Catholic beliefs. Lunch will be in the community of Mindemoya before we enjoy the fall colours along the North Shore to Sault Ste. Marie. (B,L)

Day 3 Sault Ste. Marie, ON

A casual breakfast this morning before a local guide gives us a guided tour of this important northern city! From the city’s humble beginnings to its unique relationship to the United States, there will be some interesting facts brought to light. The tour ends with an indepth look at the Lock system that allows freighters to travel to and from Lake Superior. Lunch is included before we tour the Ermatinger National Historic Site, a restored old stone home of Fur Trader, Charles Ermatinger. Then it’s time for some refreshment at the Northern Superior Brewing Co.; a nice end to a great day! (B,L)

Day 4 Sudbury, ON

A relaxing morning that begins with a visit to The Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre. Hear the story of Canada’s bushplane and forest fire protection heritage and how it has shaped life in northern and remote parts of Canada through collections and exhibits. After lunch we make our way through the spectacular fall colour of the north shore to the city of Sudbury stopping for a group picture at the Big Nickel on our arrival into the city. Tonight, a group dinner to round out the fun times with our group. (B,D)

Day 5 Home

This morning we visit the award-winning French River Visitor Centre featuring the “Voices of the River”, a unique exhibit telling the story of the French River, one of Canada's earliest "highways", and Canada's first Heritage River. Weave your way through time...experience the life of early Aboriginal people who lived here, and walk in the footsteps of explorers, missionaries and voyageurs. Walk the short trail to the suspension bridge for a spectacular view over the French River Gorge. From here we set our sights for home after a scenic journey through Ontario’s North. (B)
